Gavin is really good with numbers and understanding how it applies to life..... he is constantly using math in his day to day.
One day out of the blue while driving in the car he say, "mom, 5 plus 4 is 9, 5 plus 3 is 8, and 5 plus 2 is 7." Obviously he was just sitting there thinking about it.
Then a day later while eating some chocolate covered raisins he counted 9 and then said 8 [as he ate one] then 7 [ate another] then 5. When he said 5 I looked at him and he said, "mom do you want to know why I said 7 ... then 5? because I ate 2 at a time!"
Lastly, I bought him a package of new underwear and washed them before he saw them. So I was digging through a pile of clothes trying to gather them all up. I told him that there were ten, so as I was retrieving them all from the pile, I could only find 7 and I was about to give up when he said, "come on mom only 3 more to go!"
I am just really surprised that my not quite 5 year old understands and uses simple math with no counting, no pausing, no finger math, and no question. Little minds are so quick and absorbent!
Then he entertains himself using my make up!! Blush and eyeliner make a great "disguise" as he called it:)
