So the poor little guy fractured his arm and this is how it happened:
He climbed up onto the fire place like he has been doing frequently to throw all the rocks off onto the carpet. I sat there watching him do it. I was not concerned at all because he loves to climb and knows the safe way to get down off of couch, bed, stairs, etc. I went into the kitchen and I heard a thump and injury cries and knew he fell off. He didn't even try to get up he just laid there crying and holding his left arm right above the wrist. So I picked him up to comfort him, but he did not start to feel better and kept grabbing his arm. So I tried to see if it was nurse maids elbow and that made him scream worse.
After like 90 minutes of crying, we got into the car of course to go and see my dad for medical advice. The car seemed to make him feel better and he stopped crying. While at the fire house he used it to point and moved it a lot so we assumed it was just sore/sprang. Then he tried to crawl and collapsed onto the floor and cried in pain. My dad thought we should see how it felt later that night, and if it did not get better we should go get x-rays.
So when Brock got home I let him assess the situation and we were about to take him to the ER when I called the pediatrician to see what she thought. She said that we could wait and see if he used in the the morning because some times injuries would feel better after a night of not using it and it would not be bad to wait.
When morning came he developed a limp/scoot instead of using it so I took him the pediatrician. The doctor decided since he was not using it to crawl and when he tried he collapsed and cried, we needed x-rays. X-rays were a challenge and the nurse had to hold his poor injured arm down. But after multiple attempts they got a good x-ray.
I then went to lunch with my parents and while I was at lunch I got the bad news that he had a fracture and that I had an appointment at the orthopedic clinic in an hour. Of course in the middle of the restaurant I started to cry for my poor little baby's pain and suffering.
At the orthopedic clinic his fracture was assessed and he got his splint put on. The doctor said that it is common for babies to fracture their arms and that it is more of a ripple than a crack in the bone. So after a day in medical offices we went home with our little injured sad boy:(
Good news is that it will heal in two weeks! What a day:(
This was a few weeks back when I was so excited that he was climbing up on it -- silly me!!

Hi Denise! I finally made it to your blog! That little face in the photo is just precious-- but poor baby! I can just imagine how stressful that was for you and him both. I'm glad he's going to be okay. : )
I hope that Dash is feeling better as each day passes. I wish I was there to "kiss it and make it feel better"!
